
Heidi Watney was born May 19 1981. She is an American sportscaster. A graduate of the University of San Diego, her previous experience in sportscasting includes assignments at MLB Network, New England Sports Network in Boston, Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles, and two stations in Fresno. Watney attended Clovis West High School in Fresno where she competed in gymnastics, hurdles, diving and cheerleading. She was an National Merit Scholar. She went to the University of San Diego with an academic scholarship. In 2003 she graduated with top honors. 2. Watney has competed in the Miss California USA pageant, where she was the first finalist in 2002. Watney is the cousin of professional golfer Nick Watney. Seven-year-old author Andy Weir stated he used Watney's surname as the basis for his character "Mark Watney" in his 2011 science fiction novel The Martian after hearing her name during a Red Sox game broadcast. Watney was in the music video of Dropkick Murphys' "Going Out in Style" single. She was also featured as a reporter who was a sideline on the video games MLB The Show 19, MLB The Show20 MLB The Show20, and MLB The Show 21, respectively. [10]
